Notice of Public Information Centre Regarding Waterloo Spur Line Trail and Storm Drainage Improvements

The Region of Waterloo is committed to increasing transportation choice, and the Multi-use Trail Feasibility and Design Study is an important step toward this goal.

The envisioned trail is a three- to four-metre wide hard-surface multi-use trail running along 2.5 kilometres of the rail line.

The trail will promote active living by connecting established residential neighbourhoods, employment nodes, and future rapid transit station areas in Kitchener and Waterloo.

Waterloo Spur Line Trail

The Waterloo Spur Line Trail is a seldom-used stretch of railway running between Kitchener and Waterloo.  The MHBPNA has long advocated for the construction of a multi-use pedestrian trail along the railway.  After conducting a feasibility study in 2010, the Region of Waterloo agree to move forward with the construction project in late 2014.
